Ever felt the itch to make a DIY craft, but you just weren’t sure what to do or were afraid you’d mess it up? Have you ever seen a pin on pinterest and wanted to recreate it, but didn’t want to spend a bunch of money on supplies or deal with the messy clean up afterward? Ever just wanted to have a drink and relax with friends while taking a break from everyday stress to get creative in a cool and inspiring atmosphere?
That’s exactly why we opened The Craftery, Louisville’s first DIY studio and bar. (Read more about our “why” here). At the Craftery, we want to help you explore your creative side, so we bring you the tutorial and supplies needed for the craft right to your seat. We have 19 ( with more coming!) projects available to choose from on our craft menu. They are as diverse as our makers- from jewelry to concrete projects and macrame, woodworking to leather work. We also have an awesome drink menu, full of tasty craft cocktails, wine, and local craft beer-on tap! To make your craft unique, we let you customize it to your liking. We have a wide variety of colors of paint, thread, beads, wood stain, and leather dye to choose from. We also have professionally designed stencils & leather stamps to make your mark.
Here at the Craftery, we’ve created a warm and welcoming environment, perfect for anyone who wants to get crafty. From a professional artist or DIYer, to the person who has never held a hammer or a paintbrush, we can make a memorable night out for you. We are group friendly, but you can also come on your own and make new friends who also love DIY projects! As well, we are family friendly. While we are a crafting space and bar, minors are welcome, as long as they are accompanied by an adult. Stay tuned as we work to add more kid-friendly crafts and mocktails to our menus. We have some special events and programs in the works for kids of all ages as well, so exciting!
We also love hosting private parties (15-40 or more guests), such as work events or retreats, holiday parties, networking events, bachelors and bachelorettes, birthdays (yes, kid birthday parties, too!), baby showers, or anything else your heart desires. We can customize your craft experience to fit your event. Want to have guests tie dye baby onesies at your baby shower? Or make a group project everyone can do together? Want to customize a craft with your company logo? What about DIYing a holiday decoration, centerpiece for your wedding, or something you saw on Pinterest? So what does our regular crafting session with us look like?
A session typically last three hours, to allow you plenty of time to work on your craft and enjoy a drink (or drinks, gotta get those creative juices flowing). On your arrival, you’ll be greeted by a Craft Guide and be seated at one of our custom-made large art studio tables with a good view of the bar, beautiful wall murals, fun craft examples, and our cozy Nulu Marketplace courtyard.
After browsing our craft menu and checking out all our examples on the wall and open shelves, you’ll then pick your craft. Everyone in your group can pick a different craft, and your craft guides can answer and questions or concerns to make sure we get the perfect project just for you. Your drink order will be delivered to your table while we gather everything you need to complete your project. Along with your craft supplies, we’ll also provide a tutorial booklet. The crafts are self led with a step-by-step tutorial, but don’t worry! Our craft guides can help you with any and all steps along the way, as well as make sure you stay on course with your project and bonus- they are your personal cheerleaders! You go Glenn Coco. Are you an excellent maker who will breeze through your project without an issue? That’s amazing! We’ll be here to refresh your drinks, clean up after you leave, and be buzzing around if you need us. You will leave us with an amazing project, custom made by your own two hands, and a healthy dose of pride and accomplishment. The relaxed and refreshed feeling of escaping your concerns & getting cozy with your creative side (and maybe a slight buzz?) won’t hurt, either.
What are we doing in light of Covid-19?
To keep our makers and craft guides safe, we are taking all precautions possible.
We are operating at below 50% capacity, which ensures we keep all our groups of makers safely socially distanced in our space and at our tables.
Before every shift, our craft guides are temperature and symptom checked. Our staff also wears a mask at all times. We ask our makers to wear their mask upon arrival, but you are welcome to take it off once seated and having a drink. We just ask you wear your mask if you get up to go to the bathroom or our supply bar.
As well, we sanitize anything that gets touched frequently, including our tables, chairs, tools, supplies, menus, bathroom, and any other high touch surface areas.
Lastly, we love keeping our patio door open to allow fresh air circulation when weather allows.
